angel-2Angels tend to have very spiritual and important meanings among the Christian, Jewish, and Islamic faith. These after death spirits are sought to symbolize messengers from god that connect the spiritual world and reality. Some believe that the word “angel” may have actually came from the Greek word “angeloi” which in Greek means messenger.

Some more common meanings of the image are love, desire, spirituality, and protection. The most popular form of this image is the guardian angel. In the catholic religion these guardians are seen as  spiritual creatures, that are assigned from the heavens, to come watch upon and protect every person on this earth. These divine beings are usually drawn in the form of a beautiful women, dressed in white robs, and surrounded by a magnificent gleaming light.

This type of ink has been very popular among men and women for many years now. For men this tat usually will have a strong and significant meaning behind the ink. Anywhere from this image symbolizing a loved one who has fallen, to just having very strong religious beliefs.                                     angel-1

On a women this design can have a variety of different meanings and not always just spiritual or religious. You will see many  times women with angel wings blasted across their shoulder blades, or even across their chest. Possibly because she believes that the wings are a sign of the guardian angel that is watching over her day to day. Or maybe she just feels that she is perfect herself.

So if you are one with firm religious beliefs or just love the design of the angel this tattoo may be the right one for you!
