Foot tattoos along with hand tats are among some of the least requested places on the body to get tatted. Most likely due to the fact that the needle is very close to the bone and nerve endings. But if you are one with a pretty high pain tolerance than go for it!
You will be one of few out there with this area of the body tattooed which will make you stand out from everyone else. The best choice would be to get the tattoo on top of your foot rather than on the sole because they lose much color and detail on the bottom. Most people dont know but you actually have very sensitive reflex points on your feet.
Similar to the one on your knee where the doctor will hit with a tiny hammer to make sure your nerves in that area are working accordingly. Sometimes even if you try your hardest to stay still your feet will most likely twitch or jerk when the needle hits the nerve endings. This may result in uneven lines or squiggles but if you have an artist experienced enough he/she should be able to touch up any small mistakes.
Keep in mind that this tattoo will be very easy to hide also if needed be.
Foot tattoos are well more commonly worn on women than on men. They will usually consist of the more popular female designs including stars, hearts, flowers, fairies, tribal tattoos etc. These designs usually tend to be smaller and more simple than on other areas of the body. Ink on the feet are the most likely to “migrate” than any other place on your body.
This means that the ink is there likely to spread out over time and become blurry. That is why it is important to your new tat simple and not to complex so it will be easy for the artist to touch up if needed.
Hand and foot tattoos are among the most likely prone to get an infection because they are harder to keep clean and dry. Due to wearing shoes/socks the rubbing may cause the healing process to take much longer than normal(sometimes 3-4 weeks). Here are a few good tips to take in mind for a better healing process:
- Wear flip flops if they do not rub against your new ink. If they do you should wear an extra pair of socks with your shoes for more comfort and less iritation.
- Keep it as clean as possible
- When drying, it is important not to rub it as it will irritate it, but to dab it softly until dry.
- Dont go swimming until tyour new ink is healed and keep out of the sun as much as possible. If you need to go into sunlight, make sure you use sunblock in order to avoid the tattoo from fading.
